Leafcutter bees - Order now to reserve for shipping starting May 27th

Gentle-natured summer leafcutter bees are wonderful for summer pollination of fruits and vegetables. (100+ cocoons per order).

Summer leafcutter bees are mailed Mondays, May 27th through to July 29th, 2024. Leafcutter bees overwinter as larvae and require a period of warm weather to develop into fully formed adult bees. We incubate the larvae (a process that takes about 3 weeks) and ship them to you ready for placement in your bee house. We preincubate the Leafcutters so they are near hatching when shipped, some may hatch in transit. Bees are shipped Mondays via the Canada Postal Service and should arrive in your mailbox within the 3 to 10   business days. Your bee order may not ship right away depending on the stage of incubation.

Not sure when to have your bees delivered?  Consider two things.  One:  these bees need daytime temps in the 70's or warmer.  Two:  what are you trying to pollinate?  These bees are a generalists and will pollinate a variety of flowers.  If you are seeking to pollinate flowering summer vegetables in your garden, consider when these plants will actually flower.

Leafcutter bees fly best when temperatures are in the high 70's or warmer!

We care about your success and do our best to provide quality nesting materials and healthy bees.  Most of our customers successfully raise Leafcutter bees, it is important to understand that bees are wild insects and may find other holes in your yard to nest.
